Music to my ears

We had a BAD time with bedtime the other night. It ended with Candace throwing a screaming hysterical fit, the likes of which we haven't seen for months. She loudly proclaimed that she didn't love ANYBODY and she later told Tom that Mommy is (and I quote) "an evil witch."

I don't mind admitting that kind of hurt my feelings.

The next day, as we were driving home from preschool, Candace said "Mommy, last night I say I don't love anyone, but that not really true. I love you, Mommy. I love whole family."

What sweet music to my ears!

That's great to hear that she knew it was hurtful and really worried about your feelings. And that she can express it!
p.s. evil witch? which Disney movie is that from? lol

Actually Jen, she had just watched The Wizard of Oz... I believe that was her inspiration!

Your sweet girl loves you! I can see where her words hurt you... but how her sweet words of I love you were a healing balm to your dear heart. Oh, and why is it that "mommys" are always the evil witch & not daddys? My sister asks that question all the time! :)
Hugs,
K

awww Paula!!! even when we know they don't mean it, it still hurts!!!

for her to say sorry that means she knew what she did was wrong! and that shows she is taking ownership of her behaviors!!! that is great!

Okay, gotta tell you, it's NORMAL for kids to say something like that! Don't take it personally - someday they'll be teenagers and will undoubtedly say worse. I believe the correct answer to an I hate you is, "That's too bad - I love you!" Adding a forever and always and no matter what to that isn't a bad idea either!
