How low can they go?

Or in this case, how deep can they go?

The littles have been keeping themselves amused during these lovely days of Indian summer by digging a big hole. Yep, that's right. Digging. Almost as fun as collecting sticks was early in the summer. I love seeing this kind of hands on, free-form outdoor play.

Busily working. Candace did reassure us at dinner that she didn't think they would make it past the earth's crust to the mantle. Whew. That's a relief; I didn't want to have to add seismic disturbance to my list of worries.

Very proud of their hole in the sand. Possibly, so I've been told, the biggest hole ever dug by children.
