Home for one week

We've been through a lot in the last week, kind of like having a toddler only on fast forward. I bet I've said "No!" four thousand times. In fact, we have entire conversations with the twins using only the words "yes" and "no", something like this:

Twin points to object. "Mommy, yes?"
I say, "No."
Twin says, "No?"
I repeat, "No."

Once in awhile I get to say "yes" instead. :)

Candace and Sarah have opened every drawer and cabinet in the house at least ten times. They have banged enthusiastically on the antique piano in the basement and every computer keyboard they can find. After several days of eating anything we offered, they now sniff all of the offered food and turn up their nose at about 60% of it. No remote control is safe. Or camera. They are very possessive of their individual stuff. If we don't remember whose underwear is whose, they certainly will be happy to let us know.

They have learned a lot of words! Some favorites to hear are "I love you", "I'm sorry", "C'mon!" and "Yes, good!"

They don't like blood tests. After going to the doctor on Thursday, they reenacted the blood test experience on all family members that evening. They don't like dogs much, either, but they are getting better.

My birthday is next week, and they bought me some super sparkly earrings and a necklace which they told me about right away, so I got them early. They are a little fancy for my everyday wear, but that's okay.

Ha. I just bought some "locks" to go on some cabinets. I was looking at them this morning thinking "wouldn't the girls have fun going through all that stuff". Me-not so much. I'm hoping they don't have the dexterity to undo the "baby" locks.
I am sure i will be set straight also as to what belongs to whom.
How's the famous Ethiopian pout doing?
Glad they are learning some good words also. You are going to have to glam it up with your new jewelry!

The curiosity...takes a while to get it out of their system. The sharing/who owns what issue...we're still dealing with that one! But it is getting better, even if some days we seem to have 'set backs', but it's all a part of the process. Glad you're doing well!

Your story about the birthday gift made me laugh! My niece Kimberly (many years ago) arrived at my mom's w/a birthday gift in tow for grandma. She proudly announced "it's a watch" as she handed the lovely wrapped package to my mom! LOL

I know I will be wishing you a happy b-day this weekend, but celebrate all week!!!!

Wow--I could have written this post myself! It's amazing how the issues you mentioned are EXACTLY what we have been/are struggling with too. The pouting, electronics (light-switches too?), yes-no conversations, possessiveness, food control, and establishing boundaries are all exhausting, aren't they? But the giggles and hugs make it worth it. I do have to keep reminding myself of that. :)

Love the update. Reminds me of our house many months ago. Like toddlers on crack, I supposed.

Just remember to get LOTS of rest to have the energy of keeping up with your new daughters.
